Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Manager of Plant Operations, performs major and difficult repair and maintenance on a wide variety of machinery and equipment. Requires responsibility for coordinating work and carrying out stated repairs and maintenance procedures requested by other departments under the District’s work order system. Supervises all force-main repairs (sewage effluent discharge line to Alpine County). Supervises force main air relief repair and preventative maintenance program. Ensures that all work is performed safely and all facilities are maintained in a safe condition.

Equipment Used

½ ton, ¾ ton, and 1 ton trucks, 6 yard dump trucks, forklift, 17-ton crane, 2-ton flatbed, welders, iron workers, lathes, milling machines, and various hand-held power tools, personal computer.

Working Conditions

  1. Above and below ground work; height to 40-feet, below ground depths to 20-feet.
  2. Exposure to extreme weather conditions, freezing temperatures, snow.
  3. Exposure to dust, ash, odors, chemicals, C12 gas, SO2 gas, methane gas, and welding fumes.
  4. Confined space entry, tanks, and filters.
