Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Pump Station Supervisor: operates and maintains water wells, booster pump stations, sewer pump stations, reclaimed water and potable water storage tanks, various control valves, pressure reducing valves, sewer vacuum valves, and related equipment and appurtenances. Maintains operational and repair records for same.

Equipment Used

Trucks, snow plows, sewer vacuum truck, welding and metal fabrication equipment, hand and power tools, forklift, crane truck, scientific instruments, computers, metal lathes, milling machines, hydraulic press and benders, grinders, drills, air compressors, snow cat, snowmobile, log books, charts, graphs, radios, VFD’s and PLC.’s.

Working Conditions

Exposure to all weather conditions, including extremely severe weather (blizzards). Works with extremely hazardous chemicals (sodium hypochlorite, zinc orthophosphate, cyanide, hydrogen peroxide, and ozone). Exposed to noxious fumes and odors from equipment welding, sewer wet wells. Frequently works in confined spaces above and blow ground, including wet and dry wells, storage tanks, vaults, and manholes. May also be responsible for infrequent filing and computer work. May be required to wear escape respirator in a confined space entry.
